Record size, even for you guys. When are you gonna find someone who knows how to encode without blowing up the file size by 200% or more? It should be a lot easier to find someone who can encode right than it is to find people to translate.

It's not even like this is some super epic series. I don't even know why I watch it sometimes.

>haven't seen gg's release of Enma 12
um...

besides, it's neither a problem of bandwight nor of hdd space for the average leecher. Even more, I delete every ep after watching it. There is no point in making small encodes.

Well, I'm not sure, but I dont think they encode anything, they simply merge the .ass file into the raw with mkvtoolnix, that may explain the large size file, since raw are often big from the start. I'm pretty sure their releases are the size of the raw they took. It's only a hypothetical guess, so I might be wrong. (^^)v

yes you are, gg encodes from transport streams, which are allways >1GB. you guys should read this http://mod16.org/hurfdurf/?p=175

commander`A says gg uses CRF, which does not give you any estimated output size... The file size of the output totally depends on the video in this mode. The more details there are in the video, the large output will be. So you might end up with smaller file size sometimes depending on the grain present in video source. #201752

First of all just because it's not an issue for you doesn't mean it isn't an issue for anyone. Comcast has a bandwidth cap, and although you won't get automatically cut off at the cap, you risk getting your service terminated. I can't even be sure that I stay under since this isn't actually my own connection and I have no idea what the billing cycle is. Also not everyone deletes a show after watching it, nor is everyone able to afford to keep buying hard drives all the time.

Secondly, the fact that they use constant rate factor is really irrelevant, and I'm sorry if my initial comment was misleading in that regard. The point is that they make the encodes too damn big every time. Simple solution: reduce the rate factor. Most groups nowadays release two versions anyways, so the people who can blow bandwidth and HDD space all day can get the larger better version, and those who can't can get something more reasonable for them. If they made a smaller version then this version could be a freakin terabyte for all I care, but sadly this is all they offer.

Ok, I didn't know anything beated the 739MB of Enma 12...

Anyway, I gotta agree that they could up the crf a little, so that their encodes are under 400MB on average... but oh well, it's not like I really care.

Kinoko, you have an easy solution too: reencode everything you download. Or download the reencodes that get uploaded eventually. It's really stupid to think that [gg] are bound to waste their efforts any more, as they are already wasting a lot of effort to provide a good speedsub. Don't whine and find a half-decent ISP... oh wait, you are in Canada? Sucks to be you, sorry.

its quite simple. buy an external hard drive i only got 90gb left out of 10TBs and i got all only two usb ports left now :/ but it doesn't matter a collection load of anime of 720p or 480 or full hd is good for time when the internet is out. for people complaining on the size of the file.. its only 500mb your solution is getting a 1TB 3.5 inch Internal Hard Drive for $50 or £40. its a small price to pay for somthing you are getting for free

Id rather it that way, the closer to the original raw you can get the better the quality, and the file size so what, it fits two aspects of their subs. "We shall troll you, and be the fastest to sub most series that we arent trolling". Either way, maybe its just me, but ive always known bigger file sizes to retain more pixel quality than lower file sizes then again, thats just my opinion.

Kinoko is right. Even if you reduce CRF on one-pass w/o effort you'd get basically the same quality with a ~300mb filesize. So yes gg is stupid in that regard and they can't encode properly.

@mond stop being a retarded. And the rest that goes on with 'get a better isp/hdd/whatever', also stop being retards. Nuff.

for al those people who disrespect quality (i can't stand low qualitiy sorry :P ) and are scared of their internet connection, just stream the damn anime? there are hundreds of streaming sites that update everyday and you are whining about a little 720p anime -_-' why whine about it if there are options? then don't donwload it if you are so scared, gg, horiblesubs or anybody isn't going to change because you can't have a decent connection, fyi.

If 500 MB size is too much for you, then go and look for smaller sized and better encoded version >.>

@Norbiej I can't agree with you more :P

@V-Brake you are pretty right here too. I can't stand trolls and kids like mond...

honestly I don't know why you're whining about the size of this one. It's way smaller than a lot of other torrents.
@kiniko The very reason why I lock my wireless connection tighter than a crabs rear end, piggy-backers are annoying as hell. Especially when your ISP is Comcast. The usual bandwidth usage limit for residential customers from Comcast is 250GB of data usage per month, which is reset on the 1st of each month. I honestly never get anywhere near my 250GB per month limit, but when I say that I mean I'm still within 40GB of it.
40 Terabytes worth of HDD space and counting. Envy if you will, but like icanhazmoardesu said earlier, and I quote, "get a 2 terabyte external harddrive you poor bastard whining about a 500mb 720p mkv file"

You really need to do something about the filesize, it takes more than 10 minutes to download.

@sayanome, you're lucky 'cause in Canada maximum capacity of GiB per month is 20GiB to 60GiB max per month per users. And you pay for the extra GiB with $$$... Internet here are SO gai....so I must count every GiB I download...

You pay for what you get. If you can't cope with these filesizes go stream the videos then instead of whining over here.

fact remains, even though I agree with the filesize (even though I have 16TB of space) and 120MBit internet connection it puzzles me what happend to the 350mb sizes which are also 720p and same quality.

that said, dont complain here. They do not force you to download this. Wait for a other subgroup to pick the show up if you dislike gg-fansubs.
